Hollidaysburg Planetarium is located inside the Hollidaysburg Senior High located in Hollidaysburg, PA

The Hollidaysburg Planetarium is accessible via:

*Elevator

*A short set of stairs with handrailing


The planetarium has a 2.4 K projector, and a Digistar 7 operating system, with surround sound.

The typical length of public shows is 50 minutes to 1 hour. This includes a live night sky pre-show or current topics in Astronomy.


Cool Resources for the Amateur Astronomer:

Stardate- StarDate debuted in 1978, making it the longest-running national radio science feature in the country. It airs on more than 340 radio stations. It has been hosted by Billy Henry since July 2019.

The show takes you back to the little town of Bethlehem of long ago, in the endeavor to investigate what was the “Star”, that guided the Wise Men.

The Star of Bethlehem presents all the historical and scientific facts we know today in order to unravel this 2,000-year-old enigma in a special audiovisual show that fills the audience with a sense of wonder and an air of innocence.

Accompanied by the music of the best-known Christmas Carols of the Season, the narration guides the audience through the various historical and astronomical information of the Christmas story along with the various facts concerning our calendar, and guide them to make their own conclusions as to what this “wonder” star was all about.

Ride from the atomic structure of a snowflake to the far reaches of space aboard the Molecularium, the most fantastic ship in the Universe. In this digital dome adventure, audiences are transported into the world of atoms, where they learn about the water cycle, the three states of matter, and that everything is made of atoms and molecules. NGSS Aligned. Riding Snowflakes brings kids on a musical cartoon adventure into a nanoscale universe created from accurate molecular simulations. Over seven months in the Arctic Circle, E&S crews captured timelapse images of the Aurora Borealis with high-resolution digital SLR cameras outfitted with fisheye lenses. The results are spectacular. For the first time, the aurora has been captured as it was meant to be experienced, as a display that covers the entire sky. This immersive show shares the science behind the aurora and tells the story of our quest to find and photograph the aurora for wraparound display in full-dome theaters
